Way back when, when I lived in Avondale (okay, last summer), there was this taqueria at the Elston/California/Belmont intersection. I went there all the damn time with my old roommates.
Fred and I were in the old ‘hood late last night. We passed by to see if they were still open. Yes.
I’ve been craving their salsa ever since I first tried it. It’s been at least 7 months since the last time I was there. It’s exactly the same fire-roasted awesomeness it’s always been. Fred was impressed with whatever meat-tastic burrito he ordered. The veggie tacos were typically killer…stuffed beyond stuffed, and they add avocado without charging or even requesting it. You don’t get that in Lakeview. Quality.
Oh, and the guy that was always, always, always there was there again. He’s the guy with the amazingly genuine smile everytime you walk in the door. He brought our food. He remembered me. Awesome.
